Examined by Captain Picard in the Star Trek: TNG season seven episode #269 “Masks,” which aired the week of February 21, 1994. A mysterious, ancient archive took over the Enterprise and attempted to re-enact its mythology, with Data taking on the roles of the key figures. Their culture was represented by two mythical figures: Masaka and Korgano. The alien race embodied a long-dead, technologically advanced civilization. During a scene in Ready Room Picard was studying various artifacts that materialized on the ship when Riker came in. Picard picked up this medallion to analyze its stylized sun-designed symbol. He then turned it over to show a small off centered symbol which would come to be known as the moon. The circular medallion (5 in. diameter) is made of speckled tan resin with a stylized sun-designed symbol with a masked deity in the center on the front and an off-center moon below a line on the verso.
