Ba'ku Quilt

The square quilt is bordered with turquoise silk, metallic lavender ribbon, dark green velvet, multicolored iridescent cloth, metallic gold and dark green rope and salmon cloth.

Seen hanging in the Ba’ku village in the feature film Star Trek IX: Insurrection, which opened on December 11, 1998.  The quilt is first seen in the background of the holographic Ba’ku village on the holoship when Captain Picard, Data and Anij are investigating and when they are fired on by the Son’a.  It once again appears when Captain Picard is walking through the Ba’ku village at night with Anij as she explains the years it takes to become an artisan. Picard examines this quilt and marvels at its intricacy. The square quilt is bordered with turquoise silk, metallic lavender ribbon, dark green velvet, multicolored iridescent cloth, metallic gold and dark green rope and salmon cloth. The quilt itself is made of numerous squares and shows a pastoral scene of a waterfall with various trees. The waterfall is made of multicolored beads strung together with tree leaves made up of small multicolored pieces of cloth.  Shawn Weinstock October 11, 2017 – Kathy Casewell.
