The prop consists of an aluminum 7 inch wide blade held in place with a polished brass handle mounted on a pole covered with brown leather and wrapped on the top and middle with leather strips. The pole was shortened for subsequent use.
Wielded by Darryl Henriques as T’Kon Portal 63 in the Star Trek: TNG season 1 episode #107 “The Last Outpost,” which aired the week of October 19, 1987. Portal 63 is the last remaining evidence of the once vast T'Kon Empire. Portal had been in a deep stasis for nearly 600,000 years until awakened by the arrival of the Enterprise and a Ferengi Marauder. After a confrontation with the Ferengi the Portal, guardian of the T'kon Empire, materializes before both away teams inquiring, "Who will meet the challenge?" Portal, disenchanted with the Ferengi's barbaric and warlike responses to his inquisition, is intrigued by Commander Riker's wisdom. Once Riker passes several of Portal's intellectual tests, power is again restored to the respective starships.
