Worn by Iva Lane as Bynar as Zero Zero or Katy Boyer as Zero One in the Star Trek: TNG season one episode #116 “11001001,” which aired the week of February 1, 1988. The Bynars were short, had no gender, and their skin was lilac. Bynars always lived and worked in pairs, and they mirrored each other in both looks and how they acted. They were tightly connected to each other and to the master computer on Bynaus. Because they were linked so closely to their computer, the Bynars basically thought in ones and zeroes -- like binary code. In 2364, a supernova threatened to knock out their planet’s computer. The Bynars didn’t ask Starfleet for help, worried their request might be turned down. Instead, four Bynars at Starbase 74 took control of the Enterprise-D during a computer refit, using its computer to store their planet’s data during the emergency. When Picard and Riker figured out what happened, they helped restore the lost computer and saved Bynaus.
