Data's Emotion Chip

The chip is made from gold colored metal and glass with a spiral center pattern on both sides to give the impression of circuitry.

This chip was seen in the deleted scene titled “Cleaning Out Data’s Quarters” in the feature film Star Trek X: Nemesis, which opened on December 13, 2002.   The chip was located by Geordi while he and Worf were rummaging through Data’s belongings in his quarters after he was killed in the battle with Shinzon.  The emotion chip was designed by Dr. Soong in 2366 to allow Data to experience human emotions.  The chip was installed by Geordi to further Data’s growth as an artificial life form in Star Trek VII: Generations.  The chip malfunctioned and fused to his neural net and it was removed prior to his mission to Ba’ku in 2375.  The chip is made from gold colored metal and glass with a spiral center pattern on both sides to give the impression of circuitry.
