Part of the Dyson Sphere seen in the Star Trek: TNG season six episode #230 “Relics” which aired the week of October 12, 1992. While responding to a distress signal, the Enterprise encountered a Dyson Sphere. The source of the distress signal, a transport ship, was found crashed into the outside surface of the sphere. An away team recovered a single survivor, who turned out to be Montgomery Scott. A Dyson sphere was a colossal sphere constructed around a star surrounding it. The interior of the sphere would absorb the entire energy output of that star, which allowed lifeforms to live on the interior surface almost indefinitely.
