The El-Adrel IV creature, played by Rex Pierson, was seen in the Star Trek: TNG season five episode #202 “Darmok,” which aired the week of September 30, 1991. The creature is an extremely aggressive native that generates highly localized electromagnetic fields. While the creature kills Dathon the event opens up communications between the Tamarians and the Federation.
