Seen on a monitor in sickbay in the Star Trek: TNG season six episode #228 “Realm of Fear,” which aired the week of September 28, 1992. Lieutenant Joshua Kelly was the ship's engineer aboard the USS Yosemite. A plasma sample from a plasma streamer exploded in the ship's engine room because of quasi-energy microbes. Kelly suffered burns throughout his body and was infected by microbes along with the rest of the crew. He attempted to remove the microbes using the Yosemite's biofilter but was unsuccessful and the rest of the crew became trapped in the transporter pattern buffer. Kelly eventually succumbed to ionization in his tissues caused by the microbes. The Enterprise away team found Kelly's corpse and moved him to sickbay for autopsy by Doctor Beverly Crusher and Nurse Alyssa Ogawa. When they examined Kelly's body, they determined that it wasn’t alive, but residual ionization caused muscular activity. The heart started beating, so Crusher quickly tried a cardio-stimulator, but the activity disappeared. His heart was displayed on this LCARS. The panel (11 ¾ in. x 14 ½ in.) is made of black and clear film with colored gel on the verso filling the clear areas. The screen matched panel displays Lieutenant Kelly’s heart in cross section noting cardial activity. Ray Minarcik November 15, 2025 - Propdomain Omnibus Auction 81 Lot 176, Saturday May 12, 2018.
