Used by Patrick Stewart as Kamin in the Star Trek: TNG season five episode #225 “The Inner Light,” which aired the week of June 1, 1992. Captain Picard arrives on the bridge of the Enterprise to discover the ship has located an alien probe which then knocks him unconscious. When he wakes, he finds himself in the care of a woman who claims to be his wife Eline on the planet Kataan. Over the next 25 minutes he becomes Kamin and lives an entire lifetime with the people of the world, has children and watches them grow up. In his last moments with the aliens, he discovers the truth, that the probe selected him to be the keeper of their memories. Kamin peered through this telescope and entered data in his journal while in his courtyard with his wife and son -- Batai who tells him he wants to devote his life to music. The Dobsonian Telescope is made of MDF and hand-painted by prop fabricator Paul Pearson to replicate antique brass complete with age distressing and oxidation. It has an altazimuth mount with a vacuum formed eyepiece, wood knob edge handle, six sheet metal flaps and a hexagonal plastic lens within. It measures 35” x 38” x 77”.
