The white metal double layer badge (1 1/8 in. x 1/2 in.) consists of a distinct logo in the shape of a mermaid and a cresting wave. The cresting wave is painted steel metallic, and the mermaid is painted light blue metallic. The verso is steel colored with a pin and a butterfly clutch to hold it in place on the costume. The badge came in a prop department clear zip lock bag labeled βLA SIRENA BADGE.β
This combadge was production made for use by the La Sirena crew in all the Star Trek: Picard season one episodes except for the last. In that episode Michael Chabon changed the color of a few to pearl so the crew could have a matching new color for the conclusion. The SS La Sirena (NAR-93131) was an unregistered Kaplan F17 Speed Freighter owned and operated by Captain Cristóbal Rios during the late 24th century. Rios took ownership of La after his departure from Starfleet in 2390 or 2391. He initialized the ship's five Emergency Holograms through the self-scan option, then later deleted several memories they inherited from him, disrupting some of their normal functionality in the process.
