Mark VI Science Tricorder With Medical Head

It is constructed of gray vacuum-formed plastic with small printed labels to look like buttons and displays. The graphic is blank. It measures 7 ½" long when open and comes with a removable science hand scanner. The gray medical attachment comes to life when switched on with a display of LED lights. The metal medical hand scanner also lights up.

Used in Star Trek: TNG seasons 1 and 2 and in later seasons as background Tricorders.  In service as early as 2361it had an array of sensors on the front of the device and flipped open to reveal a large number of control surfaces and a square display screen. It was equipped with a small hand scanner stowed below the sensors.  The medical version added an attachment at the top of the tricorder that held a deployable hand scanner.  It was designed by Rick Sternbach and built by Tom Homsher.  It is constructed of gray vacuum-formed plastic with small printed labels to look like buttons and displays.  The graphic is blank.  It measures 7 ½" long when open and comes with a removable science hand scanner.
