Used by Michael Pataki as Governor Karnas in the Star Trek: TNG season one episode #112 “Too Short a Season,” which aired the week of February 8, 1988. The terminally ill Admiral Jameson returned to Mordan IV to mediate a dispute once again with Governor Karnas. To survive the mediation Admiral Jameson took an enormous dose of a drug to treat his disease which resulted in a rapid de-aging process. Jameson revealed that Karnas' insistence that he act as a mediator was not a coincidence. 45 years earlier, instead of shrewdly negotiating a similar hostage deal with Karnas, Jameson gave arms to both Karnas and his enemies, thus igniting a devastating 40-year civil war. Karnas wanted Jameson to return to Mordan so he could publicly execute him. Once he recognized the de-aged Jamson, Karnas took this rifle off his wall to use it to execute him. Seeing the now teenaged Jameson dying in extraordinary pain, Karnas decides that his revenge has been satisfied. “Rest, Jameson. Your long night -- and mine -- is over.” The rifle is based on the Klingon Disruptor rifle. It is constructed of cast resin with a clear acrylic tip wrapped with two pieces of silver tape.
