Nausicaan Sword and Sheath

This stunt Nausicaan sword and sheath was seen just before Picard was stabbed in the back by the Nausicaan. The sword is composed of a serrated silver flexible rubber blade with a black and silver distressed handle (21 in. x 3 in.). The black sheath is made of plastic with a belt clip (15 in. x 2 in.).

Used by the Nauscaans in the Star Trek:TNG season six episode #241 “Tapestry,” which aired the week of February 15, 1993. The Nausicaan sword was a blade-weapon used by the Nausicaan species. In 2327, while awaiting his first deep space assignment with friends at Starbase Earhart, then Ensign Jean-Luc Picard was stabbed through the back with a Nausicaan sword while visiting the Bonestell Recreation Facility. The attack damaged his heart so severely that it had to be replaced with an artificial heart. After having taken Picard back to relive that day, Q referred to the incident as an "unfortunate encounter" with the weapon.
