Ophidian Head

The latex puppet has snake-like skin, razor sharp teeth, dorsal and mouth horns, and resin eyes with horns. It is painted dark and light green, black and yellow with brownish white teeth and spikes and a red mouth. The bottom is open so a puppeteer could place his hand inside and operate it for the scenes it was used in.

Seen in the Star Trek: TNG season five conclusion and season six opening episodes #226-7 “Times Arrow I and II,” which aired respectively on the weeks of June 15, 1992, and September 21, 1992. The Devidian creatures traveled through time to earth’s San Francisco in the year 1893 to absorb the neural energies of human cholera patients as a means of sustenance. The Devidians used the snake-like ophidian creature to the generate temporal vortices that allowed them to travel through time. The ophidian functioned by creating minute distortions in the spacetime continuum, which the Devidians focused into a vortex using massive amounts of triolic waves.
