Used by Daniel Davis as Professor James Moriarty in the Star Trek: Picard season three episode #306 “The Bounty,” which aired the week of March 23, 2023. Professor James Moriarty was a hologram created by Geordi La Forge, based on the fictional character of the same name. He was created for Sherlock Holmes Program 3A as an adversary capable of outwitting Data in the TNG episode “Elementary, Dear Data.” In 2401, Riker, Worf, and Raffi encountered another, apparently hostile version of Moriarty that fired this pistol at them after boarding Daystrom Station. They eventually learned that the hologram had been created by the station's security AI, Daystrom Android M-5-10, to communicate after he recognized Riker. Once Riker recognized the tune playing and whistled a few bars of “Pop Goes the Weasel,” it deactivated Moriarty and granted them access to Data’s location. The 19th century single shot pistol is made of hard rubber with a simulated wood grain mahogany handle, black metal barrel, black metal hammer, distressed silver/black/purple metal mid-section, bronze metal trigger guard, and black metal trigger. The pistol came in a prop department clear zip lock bag labeled: “HERO 306 SC.XX MORIARTY PISTOL.”
