Gravely injured in a Lenarian attack, Picard slipped into a white, seamless limbo while Beverly struggled to save his life. There, he encountered Q, who informed Picard that he was dead, and this was the afterlife - and that Q himself was God! Picard refused to believe that he was dead, let alone that Q was the Supreme Being.
