Printed by The Earl Hays Press, a renowned supplier of printed props for film and television, for use in the Star Trek: TNG season one episode #113 “The Big Goodbye,” which aired the week of January 11, 1988.  Within the episode's plot, the newspaper appeared on the news stand in the holodeck simulation, underscoring the pivotal events as Picard, Data, Dr. Crusher, and Whalen become trapped due to a malfunction. Following a suspenseful confrontation with holodeck gangsters and Whalen’s tragic death, the team escaped after Wesley’s repairs restored the pathway back to the Enterprise. Picard’s successful completion of the Jaradan greeting upon their return allowed the ship to travel safely through the Korona IV quadrant. The newspaper prop, printed in black on newsprint, is dated Tuesday, June 24, 1941, and features several notable headlines such as “HITLER ON THE MOVE,” “Roosevelt Presses Congress For British Aid,” “Dimaggio Streak Reaches 37,” and “Gaylord Quits.” Notably, the first page matches on-screen images from the episode and exhibits a distinctive type defect in the "T" of the headline.  It also has an insert sheet with repeating filler pages, as is common for prop newspapers.
