Captain Picard was disturbed to learn that the legendary Vulcan, Mr. Spock, had gone on an unauthorized mission to the planet Romulus. He immediately traveled to Vulcan to speak with Spock's father Sarek. Sarek's wife, Perrin, informed Picard that her husband was gravely ill. Sarek told Picard that his son might be in touch with the Romulan senator Pardek. He also asked Picard to convey his love to his son. While on the Bridge on Klingon Bird of Prey on the way to Romulus Picard learned that Sarek died.
