It is bound together with brown leather strips and features aged white paper with hand inked black lettering. The book’s covers were hand cut/carved and painted by Rick Sternback. The pages were hand inked by Michael Okuda.
Used by Leonard Nimoy as Spock in the Star Trek: TNG season five episode #208 “Unification, Part II,” which aired the week of November 11, 1991. This ancient Romulan text recounted the story of the Vulcan separation. It was given to Spock in a café on Romulus in the presence of Captain Picard by his 12-year-old Romulan friend D’Tan. I grabbed a Sharpie and started ‘writing’ the pages as quickly as I could. This was a time-consuming process, so we took a break and went to dinner at El Torito with Guy Vardaman and Denise. Guy and I kept scribbling pages in the book during the meal." Joe then bound the book just before filming.
